Cruise Ship Party Band Testimonial
Minerva Ship Cruise Director: Jeff’s cruise band, with a line-up of drums, keyboards, saxophone and trombone, have had the passengers up and dancing pretty much throughout the cruise. The Orpheus Lounge has been busier in the evenings and on our two deck dances, the passengers were throwing themselves around the deck in a frenzy! It was great to see. The final night’s Jam Session was a great success with the musicians contributing to what was a very jolly evening. At sea at Massawa, The Jeff Williams Band played out on deck. This was a super evening and many passengers came out on deck and contributed to an extremely good ‘deck dance’. This band is seriously good!
A further testimonial
I hired the Mississippi Swamp Dogs to perform at the Belgravia Classic Car Show. It was the first time we’d run the event, so I wanted a band who understood the brief. Not only did they understand the brief, but they exceeded everybody’s expectations. They performed all over the gardens, and also did a set in the marquee. With an event like this, flexibility is key, and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending them, and look forward to welcoming them back next year.

Stamina can play an important part in the proceedings too. Working between 8pm and midnight with very short breaks is all very well. Do it on the Equator, out on deck and it becomes an endurance test! All the while you and the band need to be keeping the energy of the Party Band up, with a smile on everyones face and, at the same time making sure you are picking the right songs for the crowd in front of you.
We offer, as well as party music, the following: A one hour tribute to the great Vegas Singers. A one hour presentation of Trad Jazz, It’s Trad Dad! A set of Strict Tempo Dance. An hour presentation “A Night in the Deep South” New Orleans Blues and Boogie.
Cruise Ship Party Band
Stylistically a Cruise Ship Party Band has to be able to adapt. Some nights great demands are made on the band to play for dancing. Some nights people may want to relax, especially if the cruise specialises in interesting visits and passengers are exhausted after a long day trudging around an ancient site! On such nights may be a chill out set of Dinner Jazz is more appropriate.
Repertoire wise the band covers everything from old style jazz (think Speakeasy Jazz Band, Great Gatsby Jazz Band, 1920s Jazz Band, Dixieland Jazz Band, ) through to Swing and Rat Pack favourites, Latin music, Rock and Roll, The Swinging Sixties (plenty of people from this era on cruises at the moment) and seventies, eighties, nineties music. Also we have New Orleans repertoire, Strictly Come Dancing repertoire……the list goes on! See a more comprehensive repertoire below…
Another point worth making about the Cruise Ship Party Band scenario, you are always seen by the passengers. This is why a band like the Swamp Dogs work so well in this environment. They are delightful company, good conversationalists, good listeners, constantly patient and able to behave in an appropriate manner when “on show”
