Wedding Swing Band
Think carefully when and where to use your wedding swing band. We recommend three points:
The drinks reception.
The wedding ceremony is over, the bride, groom and guests have decamped to the wedding venue. It doesn’t matter if it is summer or winter. People will be mingling and the happy couple will be having photographs take. This is a perfect opportunity to have a wedding swing band to entertain guests. A good swing band knows instinctively not to put on a “concert” they are there for ambience. They are there to help create a celebratory mood. This means playing accessible swing repertoire at an appropriate level. Guests need to be able to hear people talking to them!
During the wedding breakfast.
You need to get this right. I would always recommend using your wedding swing band as pudding is brought out and not before. Our experience tells us that conversation has started to flag, belts have been loosened and alcohol has been taken! It is a perfect time for some low key, beautifully played music!

The party
Lets be clear here. Most people (and we have played for hundreds of weddings ) don’t want to hear swing music all night. They certainly don’t want to be dancing to swing music all night. One 45 minute set of swing is more than enough. In fact, get your band to play the music of Louis Jordan and Louis Prima. It is a sort of “cross over” music from swing to rock and roll. Very danceable. Think songs like “There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens” and “Choo Choo Ch’Boogie”.

What happens from then on?
Good question! We would recommend that you need a wedding swing band that can change and turn into something a little different, a party band. Swamp Lounge can do this. Starting as a four piece wedding swing band, with the addition of a guitarist, you have a stunning party band. See the video below for confirmation of this claim! Also, check out this link to a video testimonial of a bride RAVING about the band!
Here is a list of 100 swing songs. We thought it might give you some idea of the repertoire you may want to hear on your big day. Info on Swing Band Hire in London here.
